Good morning, Adrienne and welcome to My Book Addiction and More today….
MBA&M: Adrienne, tell our readers a little about yourself?
AG: I’m a Jersey girl at heart, but now live in the Midwest with my hubby and my junior-alpha-male son. I started writing years ago, but didn’t actually submit anything to publishers until 2006. I think one of the hardest steps to getting published is sending something out for the first time. I applaud anyone who takes this journey because it’s not an easy one. It can be so rewarding though.
MBA&M: Can you tell our readers why you chose romantic suspense genre?
MBA&M: I’m a fan of the romance and mystery/thriller genre and thought it would be fun to try writing a romantic suspense. I wrote the first one and was hooked. I like the challenge of weaving the growth of a relationship with the suspense angle. It might be a sickness I have (J), but I love shoving characters into terrifying situations and forcing them to get themselves out.
MBA&M: What where some of the challenges in writing “RISKING TRUST”?
AG: Probably the biggest challenge was writing about a woman grieving the loss of her father. My own father had just died and I was dealing with grief on a personal level. Each day, I found I could only write for short bursts because the onslaught of emotions exhausted me. At the same time, I found it therapeutic to put those emotions on the page.
Ultimately, I think writing RISKING TRUST gave me something positive to focus on. This book holds a special place in my heart and I’ll always be grateful it’s been published
MBA&M: What is the weirdest piece of writing advice you have ever gotten that actually worked?
AG: To let the story sit for a while. I had always heard writers saying they wrote every day. No matter what, they put their butts in the chair. Someone once told me that when I was stuck I should leave the story alone for a few days and work on something else. I thought that sounded crazy because how the heck was the book supposed to get better if I didn’t work on it? I tried it though and it worked for me. It was almost as if the part of my brain working on that story needed to rest. When I do this though, I always set a limit of how long I will stay away from the story. The time limit is my way of giving myself permission to not work on it. Once the time limit is reached, I go back to it.
MBA&M: What are some of your favorite food, music, books, etc?
AG: I love Italian food. Anything Italian. Just send it my way. My taste in music varies. I love classic rock and will happily listen to Springsteen or Van Halen. Since moving to the Midwest, I’ve developed a hankering for country music. I also like the blues and the old standards. Give me some Sinatra and I’ll swoon.
MBA&M: Tell our readers a few tidbits about your upcoming project(s)?
AG: I have two projects I’m working on. One is a novella for the June 2012 Carina Press anniversary edition. The heroine in this story is Janet Fink, the computer geek from my Private Protectors series. I’ve always wanted to give Janet a story of her own and found the novella to be a great opportunity to do that. I’ve also just turned in book four in the series. For readers familiar with the series, book four is Billy Tripp’s book. I had a ton of fun with Billy’s book. He’s a handful!
MBA&M: Now, tell our readers where to find you and where to purchase your books?

Love romantic suspense stories. The suspense and mystery is what makes it a page turner. Do our main characters make it to the end? Is the who-done-it found out at the end or does it make it a sequel? Thank you for the chance to win a copy.

Adrienne is on my Must Buy list! Love her books!
Hi Romance Reader Enthusiast. I love your username. 🙂 All of my books are stand alone stories so everything is wrapped up by the end. The secondary characters spin off into their own books.
Marika, two of the three books in the series happen in Chicago. I love the city of Chicago.
Hi, Wendy. You make me smile! Thanks so much for your support of this series.
Thank you, April for the kind words and for letting me hang out with all of you today.
