Although the widowed Lady Rebecca has sworn off marriage, men are another matter. London’s cold winter nights have her dreaming of warmer pursuits-like finding a lover to satisfy her hungry heart. Someone handsome, discreet, and most importantly as uninterested in marriage as she is. Someone like Jack Fulton.

A known adventurer and playboy, Jack seems like the perfect choice. There’s just one problem: Jack isn’t interested in an affair. He needs the beautiful, mysterious Lady Rebecca to be his wife. And he doesn’t have much time to persuade her. A secret from Jack’s past is about to surface, and by Christmas Day he’ll be either married to Rebecca or dead.

MY THOUGHTS:

A SEASON OF SEDUCTION by Jennifer Haymore is a delightful historical romance set in 1827 London. It is well written with depth, details, page turner, and full of action. It has romance, intrigue, adventure, action, passion, secrets, betrayal, sensuality, trust, facing your past and moving toward your future. The hero, Jack is handsome, an adventurer, a playboy, has a dreaded past, being blackmailed by a so called friend, and needs the dowry of the beautiful widow, Rebecca. The heroine, Rebecca, is a widow, beautiful, been emotional scarred, wants a grand romance, wealthy, intelligent, and doesn’t want to get married again. ENTER…Jack who is convinced he only wants Rebecca’s dowry. He soon realizes he is actually falling in love with her but he must have her dowry to stay alive before Christmas. Rebecca although a scandal has occurred between she and Jack has refused his marriage proposal. He woos her with pretty words and gestures until she agrees to marry him for she has fallen deeply in love with him. She learns the night before her wedding day of his betrayal and decides to run away to her mother’s family home. Jack in the mean time go to his blackmailer and tells him he will not betray Rebecca he will face his past and the consequences. When he arrives at Rebecca’s he learns of her disappearances and is determined to find her, tell her the truth, for he has also fallen in love with her. What happens his truly amazing, he gets shot, nearly loses his life and limb. In the end the truth will prevail. This is a wonderful, delightful story of trust, betrayal, truth, facing the past, the consequence and finding true love. I would highly recommend this book especially if you enjoy a truly great story of love and faith. I would also recommend her other two books A Touch of Scandal and A Hick of Wicked, for they are in reference to the same family but all can be read as a stand alone.
