Today it is my great pleasure to welcome R.C. Ryan to my blog. So sit back, relax, and enjoy.

I’m often asked why I choose to write romance.  All the really great books I’ve read in my lifetime are in some manner or other ROMANCE.  Romance novels are character-driven.  That is, we care deeply about these people and the issues they face in their daily lives.  As a writer, I get to delve into family dynamics.  What makes this character tick?  What shaped him/her in  childhood?  What sustains him or haunts him or nurtures him in his adult life?

Everyone has a story.  My job, as writer, is to take that story and make it a fascinating read from beginning to end.  And most of us yearn for that happy ending, which is a trademark of romance novels.  I’m only satisfied with my book when I reach that happy ending with my characters.

When I’m not busy writing, I live like every other person in my neighborhood.  I married, raise my children, tend my gardens, nurture my friendships.  But along with all that, I spend endless hours writing the stories that play in my head.  I think writing is, in fact, my survival.  I thought everyone had these stories, these fictional characters, flitting through their minds, haunting them at work or at play, and especially at sleep.  Now I’ve learned to use this wild imagination to my advantage, by writing all the stories down, and by, hopefully, entertaining my readers.

I hope all of you enjoy romance as much as I do, and that all of you will write your own happy ending.
